THORACIC STENOSIS

A common, painful condition affecting the lower part of the spine involving the muscles, nerves, or bones of the back.
Low back pain is caused by injury to a muscle (strain) or ligament (sprain). Common causes include improper lifting, poor posture, lack of regular exercise, a fracture, a ruptured disc or arthritis. Often, the only symptom is pain in the lower back.
Most low back pain goes away on its own in two to four weeks. Physiotherapy and pain relievers can help. A few cases may require surgery.
Compression fractures usually happen in the thoracic (middle) part of the spine, especially in the lower thoracic area. Providers also call them vertebral compression fractures. They often result from osteoporosis. But they can also happen after trauma (such as a car crash) or as a result of tumors on the spine. Based on the nature and presentation of fracture, it is managed with pain relief, braces, vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty and / or by surgery.

A herniated thoracic disc (also called thoracic disc herniation or thoracic herniated disc) is a serious but treatable spinal condition in which the soft center of a thoracic intervertebral disc (the nucleus pulposus) pushes through a tear in the tough outer layer of the disc (the annulus fibrosus) and into the spinal canal. The protruding disc fragment can put pressure on the thoracic segment of the spine and spinal cord, causing upper back and chest pain and dysfunction in the thoracic spinal cord. Most cases of thoracic disc herniation can be treated with a nonsurgical approach, which usually consists of rest, anti-inflammatory medication, and physical therapy. However, you may be a candidate for surgery if you have severe back pain and/or neurological symptoms that are not responding to conservative treatment.
